Natural Ways to Clean Your Jewelry

Cleaning jewelry can be a daunting task. Especially if you don’t know what to use to clean them. Certain cleaners can be harmful depending on the type of material your jewelry is made of.

Check out our Jewelry cases here!

Here are some easy life hacks that are simple and natural for cleaning your jewelry:

Silver and Sterling Silver Jewelry

Water and Lemon. Yes! That’s really all you need! The acidity of the lemon helps break down built-up dirt and tarnish on your silver jewelry. Just squeeze the lemon generously over your silver and gently rub with a cotton cloth. Have a small bowl/cup full of water on the side to rinse the cloth.

Gold & Gemstones

Cleaning your gold and gemstone jewelry couldn’t be easier with white vinegar. Simply drop the jewelry into a jar of vinegar and let sit for 10 to15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove and scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush if there is still build up on the metal. Pat dry with a non-fibrous cloth.

Brass

Sprinkle some salt on the open side of a lemon half (not the skin) and rub it over the brass. You may also use a soft toothbrush to further rub the lemon juice into the jewelry item. Once this has completed, wash and dry the brass thoroughly.
